Organizing
Building a public health movement to shift power and transform material conditions

We’re growing a public health movement and ecosystem to transform the social, economic, and environmental determinants of health.
We advocate for equitable policies to shift power to communities most impacted by injustices.
Our goal is for public health organizations and practitioners to actively participate in policy change and advocacy work in partnership with community organizers to advance justice across housing justice, economic justice, climate justice, community safety, and more.
We’re mobilizing a public health movement ecosystem:
- Our 3400+ member Public Health Awakened network builds a base of public health practitioners to take collective action on timely social justice, racial justice, and health equity issues and campaigns in coordination with broader social justice movements.
- The Public Health for Community Power Coalition, launched by HIP in September 2024, coordinates non-governmental public health organizations to fight for the policy priorities of community power-building organizations and networks.
- Policy Advocacy and Support: Through coordinated action, Public Health Awakened members have engaged in numerous campaigns advancing health equity.
